Installation & Setup
This guide walks you through downloading Mikoto Studio and installing it on your computer.
macOS builds are currently unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working hard to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Please bear with us.
Minimum System Requirements

ARM-based processor architectures (other than Apple Silicon) are not officially supported. Your experience may vary and the team may not be able to prioritize fixes for platform-specific issues during the Early Access Preview.
Before you begin
ExpressiveLabs account
Mikoto Studio requires an ExpressiveLabs account to activate. If you don't have one yet, you will be asked to create one during the download process.
Downloading Mikoto Studio
- from Moonbase.
- Sign in to your ExpressiveLabs account or create one.
- You can now download the latest installer for your platform.
Installing on Windows
- Open the downloaded
.exeinstaller. - If a Windows protected your PC (SmartScreen) warning appears, click More info, then Run anyway. The installer is safe, but the EAP build is not yet code-signed.
- Follow the on-screen wizard. The default install path works for most users.
- Launch Mikoto Studio from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.
Installing on macOS
- Open the downloaded
.dmgfile. - Drag Mikoto Studio into your Applications folder.
- On first launch, Gatekeeper may show "Mikoto Studio can't be opened because it's from an unidentified developer." To allow it:
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down and click Open Anyway next to the Mikoto Studio entry.
- Confirm in the dialog that follows. You may need to do this once more.
Installing on Linux
- Open your terminal and navigate to the location where you downloaded the installer.
- Run
sh ./MikotoStudio-0.x.x-EarlyAccess-setup.sh. - Follow the on-screen instructions.
- You can launch Mikoto Studio through your application launcher or by running
~/.local/opt/Mikoto\ Studio/MikotoStudio.
